Clemens’ brother, Brad Clemens, and his business partner Pat Adamson purchased the Shopko building in May 2020 and built several tenant spaces inside, so Clemens started planning his store from scratch.
“My goal is to sell it to people who will keep it because it is built and moving on,” he said. “We did everything, planned everything, discovered and did it all, so everything is in order. And now everything is running smoothly for us.”

“I will reevaluate next year to see what it would have been like if I had not sold, but my plan is to move on,” he said. “I’m thinking of handing it over to someone, it’s just a turnkey operation and letting them go … We have all the suppliers, all the contacts, everything is set up now.”
Clemens is up and running for the first time. His favorite part: communicating with clients.
“Launching a good product leads to good customers,” he said. “And we’re very crowd friendly – people love going to family events.”
While he looks forward to fishing for the second time in retirement, Clemens isn’t ruling out another business venture after moving north.
“I have to do something,” he said. “If I can’t find something there, I might go crazy. Maybe another business opportunity or something.”
